PICTURE SLIDESHOW: Photo contest attracts classy entries

A high standard of eye-catching images were submitted for an annual photo competition, with adult and children’s winners.

Amble’s St Cuthbert’s Church held its Through The Lens contest and the pictures were exhibited in the town’s Parish Hall over the May Day bank holiday.

The categories for the event were transport and nature and the independent judges were impressed with the quality of pictures that were on show.

Organisers were also delighted with how the competition went, describing it as very successful, with a lot more entries this time round.

The stand-out performer was talented Richard Poyer, who took first place in the transport and nature categories in the adult section.

There were also some impressive pictures submitted by younger competitors.
