Picnics are back! That’s the message from the organisers of next summer’s Alnwick Castle concert.
The Gazette revealed today that pop sensation Jess Glynne is performing in the Pastures when the popular event returns in August.
The chance to picnic in the Pastures was always one of the highlights of previous concerts.
But a controversial decision to ban food and drink from being brought into the concert area for the ill-fated Sir Tom Jones show in 2015 caused uproar.
Today, a spokeswoman for Northumberland Estates, joint organisers of the August 12 show with promotor Music Plus Sport, confirmed that picnics will be allowed.
She said: “We want people to bring their picnics and have a fun time. Northumberland Estates are joint organisers of the concert, it gives us a better level of control.
“Music Plus Sport have a really good track record. They have an excellent reputation and are very well established.”
Jess Glynne is one of only two British female solo artists to have five consecutive UK number one singles.
Her number-one charting debut album, I Cry When I Laugh, has turned double platinum in the UK, making it the highest selling debut album of the past year.
She has a sold-out UK arena tour under her belt this year and was nominated for British Breakthrough Act, British Female Solo Artist and British Single for the smash hit Hold My Hand at this year’s prestigious Brit Awards.
