Thomas van Straubanzee, who is married to the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland’s daughter, Lady Melissa, has been named as one of Princess Charlotte’s godparents.

Princess Charlotte, who was born in May and is fourth in line to the throne, is the younger child and only daughter of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. She is being christened today by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby at a private ceremony at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham.

Among her godparents, announced today, is Thomas van Straubanzee, who married Lady Melissa Percy, known as Missy, the youngest daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland at Alnwick’s St Michael’s Church in June 2013.

Their wedding guests included Princes William and Harry, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and Pippa Middleton. Mr van Straubenzee and the princes also attended Ludgrove prep school and Eton together and he was an usher at the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
