Members of North Sunderland Parish Council are again highlighting the need for an improved link road from the A1 to the coast.
The parish has been asked to submit its infrastructure priorities to Northumberland County Council for the Local Transport Plan Programme 2015-2019.
The council will then assess requests from across the county and include some in its plan for the coming years.
North Sunderland parish councillor David Donaldson said: “We want a better link road between the A1 and the coastal area and we want a dualled A1. We put these down every year and we never get anywhere, but we will put them down again.
“It doesn’t matter which road coming down to the coast gets upgraded, just as long as one of them gets widened for the heavy vehicles that come through.”
He added: “Another thing I would like to see is a path between Bamburgh and Seahouses, just like we have between Beadnell and Seahouses.”
County councillor John Woodman said he could understand why councillors had ‘got a bit cynical’ over the years.
He said: “I think it’s important to put as much detail as to why you want it as possible. The more detail about how it could help the economy etc, the more likely it is to get up the ratings.”
