Concern that changes to a house on the coastal cycle route could increase traffic problems have been dismissed.
Bamburgh parish councillors said converting the front garden of the semi in Lucker Road to hard-standing for cars could add to difficulties if they reversed on to the road, described as a bottleneck.
A planning officer’s report explained that the widened access must be considered as it would allow access on to a classified road.
No objections were made to a sun room extension and two-storey side extension to add bedrooms.
Coun Gordon Castle said the increased parking space made it less likely cars would reverse out into traffic and the committee unanimously approved the application.
