A scheme which represents a rare opportunity for a self-builder or developer has been given the green light by Northumberland County Council.
Craig Ross, planning consultant at George F White, which managed the project and obtained planning permission, said: “The site is located on Foxton Drive, which is a premier, first-rate location and very much sought-after.
“It has open countryside views to the north and overlooks the Alnmouth golf course and the Northumberland coast to the south.
“It really is an ideal and highly unusual chance for a developer to buy a plot in a very desirable area, which features a mixture of different house types and styles, near Alnmouth.”
George F White is actively seeking developer interest in an area where development plots are few and far between.
Mr Ross added: “For George F White, it represents a great success given the transitional period the local planning system is currently in.
“We overcame a number of challenges such as negative pre-application advice from the council and really fought hard to ensure the decision went in the favour of our client.
“We hope this opens the door for similar sites on the periphery of smaller rural settlements with now really being the time to aim to obtain permission for this type of development given the current planning climate.”
