Wet weather failed to extinguish Olympic fever in Amble this morning, as hardy souls braved the elements to welcome the iconic flame.

Crowds of people, young and old, lined the streets as the London 2012 Torch Relay passed through the town.

Despite the rain lashing down, proud folk were unperturbed, as they marked the unforgettable moment with a chorus of cheers and a sea of Union flags.

The convey made its way up The Wynd and along Albert Street, with Logan Jones and Lisa French the two lucky torchbearers.

Having left Alnwick and visited Hipsburn and Warkworth this morning, the torch is heading towards Morpeth, arriving in the town just after 10.30am.
