Wooler is set to get new and improved community facilities after the Glendale Gateway Trust received planning permission for extensions and alterations at the Cheviot Centre.
The proposals include single-storey works, a new community room with associated storage and three individual Armadilla A12 pods as self-contained office accommodation.
It is planned to integrate the new community room into the existing ground-floor layout.
Additional access and an emergency exit to the first floor is to be provided via a single spiral staircase to the rear of the property.
The Cheviot Centre has received major acclaim this year as a community hub since the village’s library was re-housed in the building, resulting in an increase in opening hours of 300 per cent and 70 per cent increase in gross income for the tourist information centre.
