Minister enjoyed the fair
This picture from Alnwick Fair sparked memories for one Gazette reader, who saw her late father in the photograph.
Janet Brown, nee Hislop, who lives in the south, recognised her father Rev Joe Hislop as the clergyman in the black robes, back left. He was minister of St James’ Pottergate at the time.
Janet said: “We have several photos at home of him with Joan, his wife, and my brother Max, in costume at the fair. My parents retired in about 1988, to Gunnerton, then Hexham, then moved south. Joe died in 2007, and Joan late last year.”
