The Met Office is warning of more snow and ice for Northumberland tonight.
Persisent sleet and snow in Scotland will move down into north east England during the night.
Inland and above about 200 metres, this may lead to snow accumulations of two to five centimetres, with greater amounts at higher altitudes. Meanwhile, along the coast a mixture of rain and sleet looks more likely.
The Met Office has issued a yellow ‘be aware’ warning and says there is the potential for difficult driving conditions and slippery surfaces.
Northumberland County Council gritters will be out from 3pm today and again from 4.30am in the morning. Secondary routes will be treated in the morning after the primary routes.
The weather has already put paid to today’s planned point-to-point meeting at Ratcheugh, near, Alnwick, cancelled after a course inspection this morning.
