Gordon Castle has retained his Alnwick seat, and he will be joined by Heather Cairns.

Conservative candidate Coun Castle topped the bill for the ward, with 1,128 votes.

Alnwick is a two-seat division and Lib Dem Heather Cairns grabbed second spot with 1,008 votes.

UKIP’s Michael and Margaret Weatheritt received just over 1,000 votes between them but it was not enough.

Others to miss out on the Alnwick seat were Bill Grisdale (Labour, 461 votes), Bruce Hewison (Conservative, 767), Clare Mills (Lib Dem, 929), and Mary Pidcock (Labour, 262 votes).

The percentage turnout for Alnwick was 37.2 per cent.
