Events at Cresswell House include Christmas with the De Canters, December 12 and 13, Let’s Talk About Food, November 25, and Christmas Quilting, November 13.

Our Christmas lunch is booked at The Links Hotel,Seahouses, on Friday, December 19.

Our speaker for the evening was Brian Burnie and his topic was Daft as a Brush.

This is a very valuable mode of transport to carry cancer patients to hospitals for treatment.

Mr Burnie mentioned the people who had inspired him, ie Martin Luther King and Daisy Clark – this lady had raised over a million pounds together with Mr C Bear.

Joan Pringle had also helped by taking patients to and from hospital in her car. Mr Burnie mentioned that Daft as a Brush has, to date, made over 10,000 journeys. The transport has satellite navigation equipment and wheelchair access. Patients are telephoned prior to pick up. Many schools are involved in this project.

The vote of thanks was given by Val Hart. We had been given an insight into this very valuable service to the community.

The competition was won by 1 Mrs P Hewett, 2 Mrs S MacFarlane and 3 Mrs Gray.

Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 4, when we hope to have MargaretSmith demonstrating Christmas Marzipan Sculpture. All invited. Do come along to join us and enjoy refreshments afterwards.
