CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION: The North Northumberland Bird Club’s December’s special event was a dinner held at the Beadnell Towers Hotel.
Thirty-nine people attended for an excellent evening of good food, good company and good entertainment. For many it was the start of the Christmas dinners and though many enjoyed turkey and Christmas pudding there were plenty of alternatives.
After the meal we were well entertained by Malcolm Bennett with his guitar. He sang a wide variety of traditional songs that included a tour of the calendar and a very amusing tour of that well-known furniture store with blue and yellow colours. This certainly struck a cord with the audience in more ways than one!
It was too tempting not to have any songs referring to birds and after one of Where Ravens Feed we concluded with a couple of requests that everyone could join in the chorus.
After a vote of thanks we then gathered ourselves together and dispersed into the night and were very thankful the next day that the snow had held off until the early part of the following morning.
We now look forward to seeing everyone again in the New Year at our next indoor meeting on Friday, January 13, at 7.30pm in Bamburgh Pavilion: Birds, Birds, Birds with Ron McCombe, an award-winning photographer. Non-members are always welcome.
