A luxury bed and breakfast, which has transformed a former coaching inn, has opened its doors.
Business partners Paul Wappat and Penny Dane are behind the venture, restoring well-known landmark Shotton Grange.
Set in the picturesque surroundings of The Blagdon Estate, near Morpeth, the venue is to be known as The Grange.
Co-proprietor Paul said: “Having both run our own businesses in the past, Penny and I really think that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do something we’ve always felt passionate about.”
The pair also plans to keep things local on the menu, using the award-winning Blagdon butcher and Blagdon farm shop.
Viscount Matt Ridley, who was born and brought up at Shotton Grange, officially opened the new venue recently.
He said: “I’m delighted to see that what was once my childhood home will be used to bring joy and comfort to Penny and Paul’s guests.
“I’d like to wish them both every success in their venture and will look forward to seeing the business thrive.
“At Blagdon, we are always delighted to try to help the local economy and encourage new businesses by providing suitable premises.”
