THE chairman of a theatre company is going the extra mile to help boost its funds.
Neil Mundy, who heads Northumberland Theatre Company’s (NTC) board, is to cycle 2,012 kilometres in aid of the group which has lost out on funding from the Arts Council three times in a row.
Mr Mundy is aiming to complete the challenge by July 27, when the Olympic Games open, by cycling at Willowburn Sports and Leisure Centre and out and about in the county.
And he wants to raise £2,012 for the cause in the process.
He said: “I have the kind support of staff at Willowburn Sports Centre in undertaking this task but need your generous financial support through sponsorship.
“I understand that there are many demands for charitable giving but ask you to please support us and give generously to NTC.
“This will enable this talented and committed team led by Gill Hambleton to continue to deliver wonderful entertainment to communities in the North East and beyond.
“If you have had the pleasure of seeing NTC’s work or have been involved with the company in any way you will know why it is important to provide isolated communities with high quality theatre.
“Any amount will be gratefully received, hugely appreciated and spent to ensure the delivery of high-quality professional theatre in Northumberland.
