Three support acts have been announced for next month’s concert by superstar Sir Tom Jones in Alnwick.

Ward Thomas, AJ Brown and Hannah Rickard and the Relatives have all been lined up for the summer show in the Pastures on Saturday, August 8.

They will be providing a musical mix of country, bluegrass and rock and roll before the music legend takes to the stage.

Ward Thomas features 20-year-old twins Catherine and Lizzy Ward Thomas, who made their first recordings in Nashville in 2012 and are now being tipped to be a major British country act.

Hannah Rickard is a highly respected singer and fiddle player who has worked in Kathryn Tickell’s band and as a backing vocalist for Status Quo at their sell-out show at The Royal Albert Hall earlier this year.

Also performing is AJ Brown, a pianist and saxophonist from Halifax. Much of his material is a range of love-based melodies influenced by Michael Bublè, Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra.

Neil Winterbottom, director of Loose Cannon Events, who are bringing the concert to Alnwick, said: “This is going to be a fantastic concert.

“We are very excited that Sir Tom Jones will be playing at Alnwick Castle as it is the perfect setting for what promises to be an unforgettable and entertaining evening.

“We are thrilled that a world-class star will be supported by Ward Thomas, Hannah Rickard and the Relatives and AJ Brown. This is promising to be a sensational concert with a fantastic musical mix.”

Sir Tom, whose hits span six decades with more than 100million record sales, has been exposed to a whole new audience via his role as a long-standing coach on the hit BBC show The Voice.
