The curtain comes up on Alnwick Music Society’s 2012/13 concert season next week, with the return of the Cropper, Welsh, Roscoe Trio.
The Trio played in Alnwick in April 2010 to great acclaim and members expressed the wish to hear them again.
They came together for the 2005/06 season when Peter Cropper, the former leader and founder member of the Lindsays, joined forces with Moray Welsh, former principal cellist of the London Symphony Orchestra, and Martin Roscoe, one of Britain’s finest pianists.
Since that time they have toured extensively throughout the United Kingdom playing at many music festivals as well as prestigious concert hall venues.
The programme for next week’s concert begins with the Haydn Trio in C major followed by the Brahms Trio in C minor.
After the interval, the Trio will play the famous Beethoven Archduke Trio in B flat, Opus 97.
It is set to be a memorable performance to what promises to be a wonderful launch to the new season.
The concert takes place in the Guest Hall at Alnwick Castle from 7.30pm on Thursday, October 4.
Tickets, priced £14, £13 concessions, are available from the Alnwick Playhouse box office (01665 510785), online at www.alnwickplayhouse.co.uk or on the door on the evening of the concert.
Non-members of the Society are welcome. As part of the Society’s policy to encourage young people to enjoy classical music, students in full-time education will be admitted for free.
