MP welcomes business aid in Queen’s Speech

MP Sir Alan Beith welcomed measures announced in yesterday’s Queen’s Speech which will help 1,370 businesses in the Berwick constituency and another 3,020 across the county by cutting National Insurance contributions.

Meanwhile, Police and Crime Commissioner for Northumbria, Vera Baird, QC, gave a cautious welcome to some aspects of the criminal justice proposals, including new powers to tackle anti-social behaviour and cutting crime.
