MP pays tribute to PC Rathband

NORTH Northumberland MP Sir Alan Beith has paid tribute to PC David Rathband who died last night.

PC Rathband was found dead at his home in Blyth at around 7pm.

He was put in the media spotlight when he was shot in the face and blinded by maniac gunman Raoul Moat who went on the run in Rothbury.

Following news of the death Sir Alan Beith said: “This is a tragic outcome for a courageous police officer and acts as a grim reminder of the danger that Moat posed to the people of Northumberland, especially those charged with protecting us all.
