LIBERAL Democrat MP Sir Alan Beith is compiling a dossier on those hit by heating oil problems during the bad weather.
Residents have been contacting Sir Alan Beith about the supply and cost of domestic heating oil, following the MP’s call for information to pass on to the Office of Fair Trading.
Sir Alan is asking people to get in touch with him, if they were left without heating oil or if they have been hit by price increases during the recent spell of severe winter weather.
He said: “I have been extremely concerned about the number of people who have told me they were unable to get heating oil. Although suppliers worked very hard during the snow to get oil to customers, with tanker drivers working in very difficult conditions, I have heard from many people who ran out of oil.
“People have also been contacting me about the sharp rise in the price of heating oil, being charged more on delivery than the price agreed when placing the order, and other problems.
“I am compiling a dossier of information for the Office of Fair Trading, which has announced today that it is conducting a study on issues affecting people who rely on off-grid energy such as heating oil.”
If you have been affected this winter, write to Sir Alan at 54 Bondgate Within, Alnwick, NE66 1JD or email his researcher Dr Clare Mills at email@example.com including your name and address and address (these details will not be passed on to the Office of Fair Trading or any other third party without your permission).
