A NORTH Northumberland hotel has appointed a new general manager after being upgraded from a two to a three-star venue.
The Victoria Hotel in Bamburgh has been upgraded from an AA two star to a three star, while the hotel’s Bailey’s Bar and Restaurant facility has also been awarded an AA rosette.
As the Victoria looks to capitalise on its new upgraded status, the hotel has appointed Chris Bowron as its new general manager as part of a pre-summer recruitment drive.
Chris has already added to his team by bringing both head chef John Paul Cummings and assistant duty manager Olivia Hope to Bamburgh.
Chris said: “Starting a new role is always a challenge; however a big thank-you has to go to the current management team and all the team members in all departments.
“They have embraced the changes here at the Victoria and without their hard work, passion, dedication and commitment, the hotel would be not in the position it is.
“In years to come we will continue to deliver an exceptional product and exceed our customers’ expectations on each and every visit.”
Prior to its upgrade, the Victoria had held a two-star rating for 10 years and the upgrade follows a number of improvements at the hotel including a full refurbishment of its superior and castle-view bedrooms and a greater focus on food.
Looking forward, the hotel aims to expand the range of its wedding packages and also hopes to achieve two AA rosettes next year – a rare accolade in the North East region.
