Dazzling display gives sky watchers a treat

The Perseid meteor shower gave one of its brightest displays in years last nights thanks to a coinciding new moon. The dark sky meant that the Milky Way showed up brilliantly and with it streaks of light flashed past. The Perseid meteor shower gets its name because they fly out of the constellation of Perseus. Our photographer Jane Coltman took her camera to Duddo Stones in north Northumberland where she captured this shot. Did you capture the event on camera? If so we would love to see your pictures.
