THE Mayor of Alnwick has opened a new information centre at the offices of the Alnwick and District Citizens Advice Bureau.

Alan Symmonds, who is also a trustee of the charity, said he was proud to open the centre at a time when more and more local people were turning to the CAB for help.

He thanked its volunteers for their commitment and professionalism, and recommended the charity as a rewarding and enjoyable place to volunteer.

The information centre, funded through the RDPE Leader Programme, will initially be open Mondays and Thursdays from 10am to noon, providing callers with fact sheets, leaflets and guides on a range of topics. Callers will also be able to access information from trusted websites using a touch screen kiosk and speak to experienced advice workers.

Anyone interested in volunteering at CAB can call Elizabeth Garrett on 01665 604136.
