Manager in court

THE former general manager of the Barn at Beal appeared at court in Berwick last week, charged with fraud and two counts of theft.

Jim Loughran, of Byron Court, Swarland, offered a basis of plea through his solicitor John Brown to the three charges and the case was adjourned until today for the Crown Prosecution Service to consider the matter. No formal plea was entered.

It is alleged that between March 24 and December 17, 2010, Loughran, 50, fraudulently obtained over £4,700 in his position and also stole over £300 worth of wine from the Barn at Beal.
