Man exposes himself to young girls in Northumberland town

Police are appealing for information after a man exposed himself to three girls, aged six and seven, in a Northumberland town.

The sickening incident happened between 6pm and 6.30pm on Wednesday in an area known as the Black Path, near Westmoreland Avenue, in Bedlington.

The man is described as being white, in his 50s, 6ft tall, of normal build with black hair. He was wearing a black waist-length coat, black jeans and brown shoes and had a Northumbrian accent. He was also unshaven.

Neighbourhood Inspector Trevor Oakley said: “This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable and has no place in any community. Although the children are shaken they are unharmed and now safe. Inquiries are underway and every effort is being made to identity the offender. Neighbourhood officers are carrying out patrols in the area offering reassurance to the community. I’d ask anyone with any concerns to speak to them.”
