A WARKWORTH man has been given a suspended prison sentence after being convicted of sexually assaulting two 13-year-old girls.
David Richard McCubbin, of Beal Croft, entered guilty pleas to the offences which were committed on Queen Street in Amble on November 18. The 20-year-old also admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words to cause harassment, alarm or distress to an adult on the same date.
Appearing at South East Northumberland Magistrates Court on Monday, McCubbin was also sentenced for two earlier assaults, which he denied but was found guilty of committing following a trial.
In total, he was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison, suspended for two years, and given a two-year supervision order with a requirement for 150 hours of unpaid work.
McCubbin was also ordered to pay compensation totalling £300 to his various victims, along with £250 in court costs.
He must also register with the police for a period of seven years and attend a sexual offenders’ programme.
