Northumberland’s Lucy Bronze has been named in England’s starting eleven for tonight’s World Cup semi-final against Japan.

The 23-year-old from Alnwick has played a crucial role in the nation’s campaign, scoring two goals in the knock-out stage. The first was a screamer against Norway in the last-16, followed by a header in the quarter-final victory over hosts Canada.

The Manchester City defender admits that reigning champions Japan will provide a tough test, but insists England are not scared of their opponents.

England have made one change from the side which started against Canada, with Toni Duggan replacing Karen Carney.

The match starts at 00:00 BST and is live on BBC One.
