A TEACHER and self-confessed bookworm is aiming to set up a new Alnwick-based reading group with a difference – bringing your baby along is an added requirement.

Lotty Craigs, who teaches English and media at the Duchess’s Community High School, but is currently on maternity leave, had the idea of a books and babies reading group after having her son, Hector, in June.

She said: “I love reading, and would love to join a book group, but it’s impossible with a young baby. I thought that if I set up a group for new mums and dads, not only will it give us a chance to discuss interesting books and short stories, it’s also a good way to meet each other in a relaxed environment.

“It would be great to meet up every few weeks after agreeing on a text. Because time for reading is often short with young babies, we could start with short stories or even a chapter of a book.”
