Longhoughton and Boulmer WI was back after the summer break with a September members’ night.
Time to catch up with all our news and to organise some events and outings to fill in the dark winter nights.
Joan Riley presided at the meeting and Carole Green presented us all with a mastermind quiz.
We hope to have the car boot sale in the middle of September and a visit to the dogs in October.
Darts and domino matches are being arranged – let’s hope we are luckier than last year – and a geo-caching walk around Rennington ending at the Three Horseshoes will blow away the cobwebs later in October.
We have an invitation to Brizlee WI on October 24, a musical evening with a buffet supper.
We enjoyed some excellent meeting nights before the summer break, Rainbow pottery painting, a talk on the Belford Workhouse and a beautiful evening at Beal, visiting the Owl Sanctuary.
But I’m sure the line-up for winter will be just as interesting. On October 7, Adrian Janetta, our almost resident astronomer, is back to take us time-travelling through space and November brings The Western Front Association.
Simply Lyrical entertains at the Christmas party and the Amble Lifeguards are lined up for January. Quite a good selection.
Our Tuesday meeting ended with a tasty cheese and nibbles supper and a competition for something beginning with S. This was won by Joan Riley with a set of scales.
Our next meeting will be at Westfield Park, at 7.15pm on October 7. A Macmillan coffee morning will be held here on Saturday, September 27 at 11am. Everyone is welcome.
