Looking good

Longhoughton and Boulmer WI continues to flourish with new members in its 96th year in the newly refurbished Boulmer Memorial Hall, meeting on the first Tuesday in the month, at 7.30pm.

The AGM in April voted back in the committee, which is proactive in arranging unusual speakers, days out and events.

Our May meeting welcomed Lucy, from Allure Lingerie, to inform and advise how we could look our best with the correct fitting undergarments.

Our next meeting in June will welcome a speaker on Human Sexuality. The July meeting is an evening at Preston Tower, with a talk on the Border Reivers and the history of Preston Tower, followed by a picnic supper. Our summer recess is in August.

Five members visited Howick WI for a quiz. We have been invited to attend various events at other WIs. One member attended the recent council meeting in Newcastle. Our treasurer is preparing to attend the Brighton Conference in June.

The president and another member have applied to attend the Doxford Hall lunch in July, and an application has been submitted to join in the Car Treasure Hunt in June.

As a tribute to the Queen to celebrate her 90th birthday, we are holding a pop-up café in Boulmer Memorial Hall on Saturday, June 11, from 10am to 4pm. There will be the usual WI good standard of cakes and scones, drinks, tombola and stalls. An invitation is extended to all to support this.
