The Longframlington Local History Society is holding its second open day on Saturday from 10am to 1pm in the Memorial Hall on Rothbury Road in the village.
Entrance and refreshments are free and villagers past and present are invited to find out more about the history of Longframlington, Weldon, Brinkburn and Hesleyhurst.
We held our first open day in 2012 and were overwhelmed by the number of visitors who came.
This time we have many new displays to illustrate the research we have carried out into the history of our area which will include: Archaeological finds; the First World War; our industrial heritage; our agricultural past including the drove roads; the railways that never came and the lost Weldon Hall.
There will be a display of old photographs and maps.
Our information folders on all the topics we have researched will be available, as well as our archive of newspaper articles from the 18th and 19th centuries.
Visitors will have the opportunity to talk to the people who have carried out the research and they are invited to bring along any information or memories that they might have to share.
