Women’s support seeks volunteers
Volunteers are needed to help support victims of sexual violence.
Grace, the Northumberland sexual violence project, is looking for women from the Alnwick area to join its advisory board.
Members will provide support and advice to the staff and trustees of Grace, to ensure that it focuses on the needs of women survivors of sexual violence.
Volunteers will have skills, knowledge and understanding of some of the following areas: Supporting victims of sexual violence; criminal justice and sexual violence; funding; voluntary and community sector networks; statutory/public bodies’ involvement in sexual violence; marketing; business planning and outreach work.
While this role is intended to be purely advisory, it might interest women who want to gain some informal experience of strategic work to prepare them for a board-level role in the future.

Grace, a project of the charity Tyneside Rape Crisis Centre, has been operating in Northumberland for more than three years. It provides a helpline and face-to-face or telephone counselling to women who have experienced recent, or historical, sexual violence.
