Woman, 79, airlifted to hospital after fall

A 79-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital after falling in Elsdon, near Rothbury, yesterday afternoon.

The Great North Air Ambulance (GNAAS) was called at 1.30pm to help by the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) after the woman had sustained serious injuires in the fall outside her house.

She was treated on scene by the NEAS community paramedic and GNAAS doctor and paramedic before being flown to the RVI in Newcastle with a suspected fractured femur and wrist.
