Witnesses plea after A1 death crash

Police have released a photograph of a man killed in a collision on the A1 in an effort to trace witnesses.

As reported in the Gazette, Nigel Sowerby, 37, from Cleckheaton in West Yorkshire, died after a crash near Felton on November 12.

Officers are continuing to appeal for anyone who saw the collision or who has information that could help them with their investigation.

At 7.43am, a white BMW 520 was driving southbound when, for reasons yet to be established, it crossed the central line and collided with a Citroen travelling north. The BMW then collided with a VW van that was also going north. Mr Sowerby was driving the van.

Officers arrested the 49-year-old driver of the BMW and he was bailed pending further inquiries.
