Whole backlog cleared

Coun Ian Swithenbank, the county council’s policy board member for streetcare and environment, and highways staff were celebrating as the last pothole of the backlog in Northumberland – on the C136 road, outside the Forget Me Not caravan park, Longhorsley, was filled in last Friday.

Since January this year, council staff have filled in the outstanding backlog of 12,213 potholes.
