Award-winning crime writer Ann Cleeves opened an action-packed Amble RNLI Lifeboat Day yesterday.
Proceeds from the event went to the town’s RNLI Shannon Lifeboat Appeal, which aims to raise £200,000 towards the cost of a new Shannon Class Lifeboat due on station in Amble in 2017 when the current lifeboat reaches the end of her operational life.
The Druridge Bay race committee presented a cheque of £500 to the cause and announced that next year’s beneficiary of the run will be Amble RNLI.
There was plenty of fun for all the family and there was a service led by Rev John Maddock-Lyons.
Meanwhile, Amble Coastal Rowing Club launched its community-built skiff.
