Volunteers needed for support service

A group working to extend bereavement care provision in north Northumberland is seeking volunteers for a visiting service that will cover the areas of Alnwick, Wooler and Berwick.

When people are bereaved, it can help to talk to someone outside the immediate circle of family and friends.

It is hoped that a new service can be developed to offer home visits for listening and support by trained volunteers to people who have lost a loved one.

The service would be free, confidential and available to anyone who indicates that they would like to be contacted.

Anyone interested is invited to a taster session, which will take place on Tuesday at 7pm in St Mary’s Parish Room, St Mary’s Church, Wooler.

For further information on the service, contact Jude Newton on 01890 882002 or Sue Porteous on 01665 602496.
