Exciting project for schoolchildren
Pupils at the Links First School in Amble staged a replica Great Fire of London as part of a cross curriculum project.
They studied the history of the period around 1666 and designed and built a mini Pudding Lane. With great excitement they gathered in the school yard to watch the buildings go up in flames, thanks to assistance from Amble Fire Brigade members who were on hand to educate the youngsters about fire safety .
Afterwards the pupils held a race against the Brigade with the children using buckets of water and the firemen using hoses.
