Brighouse Town players have set off on their voyage for the FA Vase fourth round tie at Newport in the Isle of Wight.

Brighouse Town have made it to St George’s Park as they make their way down to the Isle of Wight for their 4th Round VA Vase tie.

The squad will be taking a tour around the park in Burton and having a training session at the national centre.

They will also be enjoying in some light hearted fun with team tweeting “special treat coming up for everyone!!! crossbar challenge, brighouse style!!! #roadtowembley.”

The 45-strong party departed from The Old Mill pub car park in Wakefield Road at 8am this morning.

Club chairman Ray McLaughlin said they had been concerned about the weather after their match got cancelled last weekend due to the snow. “The pitch is 90 per cent right, they have covered the other part because it was a little boggy. But it will be nice to concentrate on the match now.

“Newport has got a strong side so there is not going to be a lot in it. But we are hoping on the day that we will pull it out of the bag. We are travelling down a day early and we will be having a team meeting and Paul (Quinn, manager) is well prepared and has done an excellent job so far.”

Although more rain is forecast Newport’s manager John Simpkins has reassured them that the pitch will be full functional for the game tomorrow.

Meanwhile people have been showing their support for the team on Twitter.

@johnhudson said: “Good luck lads. Will be following on here.”

@HollyAndrews2 said: “Good luck to all at @brighousetownfc @quinnyPaul1 for tomorrow’s game. We are routing for you @fingersandtoescrossed”

@neillssports said: “Good luck to @brighousetownfc in their quest for a Wembley final in the #favase. Proud to supply you with all your kit and equipment.”

It is expected that 15 to 20 people will meet the team there after flying in tonight and a few more will be travelling down by car.

If the team wins their next match will be on February 9.

Mark Keenan who is sponsoring the team said: “We are hoping to be living the same dream as Bradford.”
