Police are appealing for information after a man was found with head injuries in a Northumberland street.
At just before 2.40am today, police received a report from the ambulance service that a member of the public had discovered the unconscious man on Front Street, in Newbiggin.
The 59-year-old was taken by ambulance to Wansbeck District General Hospital for treatment to head and facial injuries. He has since been transferred to Newcastle’s RVI where his condition is described as serious.
Police have been examining the scene this morning and are carrying out enquiries to establish the exact circumstances leading up to the man being found in the street.
Detectives are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the man in the area or any suspicious activity in the early hours of the morning.
