While on holiday here in Northumberland for the first time, I picked up your newspaper and read with interest the letters regarding windfarms.
During the extensive drives and walks throughout the county, I have been overawed by the grace and elegance of these turbines and congratulate those responsible for their foresight and grasp of the issues involved.
In my view, they do not detract from the beauty of the landscape at all, and indeed they are contributing to its preservation in the long term by reducing the use of fossil fuels and resulting global warming.
My home is in Berkshire and my mother and four adult children and their families all live within David Cameron’s West Oxfordshire constituency.
I agree, it is shameful that we have so few wind turbines at home, but Northumberland residents should be proud that they are leading the way in this and showing the rest of us how it is done – and done well.
