Tributes paid after sudden death

Heartfelt tributes have been paid to a north Northumberland man who died suddenly at the weekend.

Gareth Balmbra was pronounced dead on Saturday night after being taken to Wansbeck General Hospital from an address in Alnwick.

The tragic incident has prompted a huge outpouring of grief on social-networking site Facebook.

Touching tributes have described the 30-year-old as a special guy, who was loved by many people and touched lots of hearts in loads of different ways.

On the Gazette’s Facebook page, John Anderson described the news as a sad day for Alnwick.

Heartfelt messages of support have also been left on the site for his family, who, through Facebook, have thanked people for their kind words.

On Twitter, @sielegend79 described Gareth as a good friend who will be missed.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said that a 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of supplying controlled drugs and has been bailed until next year.

Inquiries are on-going.
