The family of a 21-year-old who was killed when cycling have given their backing to a tribute left at the scene of the crash.

Josh Jarvis, from Longhoughton, was killed instantly when a cement mixer hit him while he was cycling in Fallowfield, Manchester, where he was studying.

Local residents have put up a bike and painted it white in tribute to Josh and to act as a reminder of the dangers.

Josh’s dad, Simon, said: “We support what the residents have done and feel it is a very touching tribute to Josh. The people who have done it are active cyclists and it sends out a message.”
