Three-year driving ban

A Wooler man who tried to evade police when driving without insurance has received a 12-week suspended sentence and been banned from driving for three years.

Magistrates in Berwick heard that in June, police tried to pull over Robert Day near Berwick, but he attempted to lose them.

Day, who described how he had been suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, will serve his ban alongside a current ban of seven years, and was ordered to pay costs of £400. His Nissan Primera has been crushed.
