Talks over changes to parish council

Togston Parish Council’s electoral arrangements are being examined with a view to reducing the number of councillors from 10 to seven.

The group has made the request because of difficulties filling the full number of seats, but this can only be done through a community governance review.

Northumberland County Council is consulting with local electors and other stakeholders in the area about the proposals.

A report will be sent to the council in early July advising of the outcome and, if an order is made, then the changes will come into force with effect from the next local elections of the parish council in May 2017.

The deadline for responses is April 11. Send views to Lesley Bennett, Democratic Services, Northumberland County Council, County Hall, Morpeth, NE61 2EF. Or email Lesley.Bennett@north umberland.gov.uk
