Headteacher Dianne Butler has left Rothbury First School after more than two decades in charge.
From Christmas productions to visits from Zulus and more, Mrs Butler has seen it all.
Last week, the reality that she was stepping down hadn’t quite sunk in.
“I haven’t really had time to think about it,” she said.
“It is such a busy time of year, but I am just going to have a rest and take stock of things and then decide what is going to happen after that.”
Asked what her favourite thing about teaching at the school had been, Mrs Butler said that there were too many highlights.
“So many things have happened over the years, I couldn’t pick one thing out,” she said.
“The school is a wonderful place to work, I wouldn’t have stayed for 23 years if it hadn’t been.
“The support of the staff, parents and everyone makes our school. It is quite a unique school, everybody in the community is part of it.
“I will definitely miss being part of it, it has been such a good school.
“And Ofsted have recognised us as a good school.
“It’s just great.”
