A well-established local food event has joined forces with the first Amble Puffin Festival.

The quirky celebration of the cute black and white creatures takes place in and around the town from May 18 to June 1.

As part of the extravaganza, the Alnwick Food Festival has come on board to run a local food/drink and arts/crafts event on Saturday, May 25, and Sunday, May 26.

Anyone interested in having a stall over the course of the weekend should email karen@alnwickfoodfestival.co.uk

The puffin festival is organised by Amble Action Group in partnership with the town council, business club and development trust.

It is aimed at promoting tourism, enhancing community spirit, building on the unique identity of the town and celebrating the puffins on nearby Coquet Island. It will coincide with the best time to see the puffins and the pufflings.

A packed programme is being planned, including history and wildlife talks, workshops, boat cruises around Coquet Island and much more.

Anyone who has quirky puffin facts or stories should tweet @AmblePuffinFest

The festival, which also has a Facebook page, is still trying to raise funds. To make a donation, visit spacehive.com/amblepuffinfestival
