Soldier saddles up for injured comrades
A soldier from Shilbottle will be cycling the length of Britain to raise funds for a charity which has given enormous help to wounded servicemen.
Phil Patrick,48, who is based at Catterick with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers – part of 5th Regiment Royal Artillery – is travelling with 10 comrades from John O’ Groats to Land’s End in the last two weeks of September, in aid of Help for Heroes. “We hope to cover at least 100 miles a day and will be doing the event as one group, so all team members will cycle the full distance of nearly 1,000 miles,” he said.
“We all believe the work carried out by the Help for Heroes charity, in support of our injured colleagues, is second-to-none and we hope the money raised by us will help in some way towards improving facilities or helping an injured serviceman and woman.”
