Places are still available for a charity run on Sunday as organisers aim to raise more money that last year’s inaugural event.
The Alnwick Race for Life is being staged at Shilbottle’s Community Hall in aid of Cancer Research UK.
The fund-raisers are the brainchild of Alnwick mum Sharon Reid, who was inspired by her own cancer battle.
The 2013 event – the first of its kind – collected more than £15,000.
Sharon hopes this year’s run will be a bigger success.
The family-friendly event is open to all and will a feature a 5k and a 10k course.
The run starts at 1pm although people are encouraged to attend from noon for a fun warm-up session.
Entry is £5 adults, £2 children. Adults must raise a £25 minimum, while children must have at least £10 of sponsorship. People can sign up on the day, but they must bring the money with them.
All participants will receive a medal and children will also receive a small, sweet gift.
There will also be a range of stalls, which open from 10am, children’s rides and an official photographer.
A shuttle minibus will operate from Alnwick to Shilbottle on the day. For details, sign up to RFL Alnwick 2014 on Facebook or call 01665 604219.
