Search is on for unsung heroes
NOMINATIONS are currently being requested to find and recognise any unsung heroes in Alnwick.
The Mayor’s Civic Awards for 2011/12 have been launched to give formal recognition to individuals who have demonstrated significant involvement, contribution and dedication to the town.
This could be in charity work, citizenship, caring or community participation and involvement.
There are two award categories – adults and young people aged 18 or under.
Mayor of Alnwick Coun Alan Symmonds said: “I would like to encourage people to think about those who really make a big difference in our community because of what they quietly get on and do, and to put them forward for a Civic Award.
“Many individuals and groups in our town owe a lot to such people and I feel that it is extremely important that we recognise their contributions.”
As well as receiving an award in May, the winners will also be recognised at the closing ceremony of the Festival of Alnwick at The Alnwick Garden on June 15.
Nominations must be made by the closing date of Wednesday, April 25.
Forms can be obtained from Bill Batey, chief officer and town clerk, by emailing bill.batey@btconnect.com or calling 01665 714922.
Alternatively, download a form from the council’s website at www.alnwicktowncouncil.co.uk
